Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARINO OLIVER JOHANNSON Marino Johannson passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 2, 2000 at the Arborg Hospital. He is survived and sadly missed by sisters Imba Paulson (Paul) and Olaf Hadady; sisters-in-law Lara Olson and Nellie Johannson; brothers-in-law Einar Einarson (Bev) and Barney Gislason; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by parents Ingi and Julianna Johannson, wife Ingibjorg Johannson, sister Stebba Gislason, brothers, Helgi, Eiki and Siggi. Marino was born June 11, 1911 in Arborg. He lived on Hecla Island until his early teens, then moved to Riverton where he resided the rest of his life. He married Ingibjorg Einarson in 1939 and they were an extremely close and loving couple until her passing in 1988. They especially loved spending time at Frog Bay where Marino fished, as well as tending their numerous flower gardens. Marino was a fisherman all his life and loved being near the water. He was an excellent handyman, always painting or fixing up around the house. He liked to rise early, often going for bicycle rides just after sunrise. We found out just in the last few years that Uncle loved to shoot a game of pool. In fact, he was quite the pool shark, excelling in one-handed shots. He also had a wonderfully dry sense of humour, which he kept right to the end. We will all miss his cheerful smile, ready laugh and helping hand. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with student Pastor Susan Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his nephews and great-nephews, Eric Johannson, Larry Johannson, Grant Johannson, Caleb Reykdal, Christopher Einarson and Marc Einarson. The family would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home and the Arborg Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, in care of arrangements.
